Q1: What ages/grades is this for?

This is for children from first grade (6 years old) to fifth grade (11 years old) or older. I purposefully made many of the worksheets not so cutesy for older students.

As soon as your child or student can read the word "fin," you can teach them "muffin." As soon as they can read "go," they can be taught zero. As soon as they can read "cake," you can teach cupcake. And so...

Q2: How long will this take?

Each Zoom lesson is about an hour. There is a hands-on component to do while you watch the lesson.

You will invest 4 hours watching the videos and doing the lesson, but it’s going to save your child and you dozens of hours of frustration and tears over the next several years.

Q3: I already have Sounds School - do I need this?

Yes, Sounds School covers the 44 sounds in English and a simple routine for practicing one syllable words. This is your next step for reading big words.

Q4: My child reads okay, but struggles with spelling. Will this help?

Yes, a lot of children learn to read okay relying on context. But spelling reveals big gaps in their sounds-spelling knowledge. This will help you teach your child how to notice syllables in written words to apply to their spelling.
